Installation of new team of ISA NCB 2018-19
31st March 2018 an auspicious day of Hanuman jayanti was landmark day for ISA NCB as on this day, new team of Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists, Nagpur City branch 2018-19 was installed by PADMASHREE respectable Dr. Rani Bang Co-Director SEARCH , Gadchiroli, in presesnce of Dr. Hitendra Mahajan , President ,ISA Maharashtra in a grand ceremony which was attended by large number of ISA members and luminaries of medical fraternity. Dr Sunita Lawange, Consultant Anaesthesiologist and Pain Physician was installed as President and Dr Umesh Ramtani, Assistant Professor in Anaesthesiology , IGGMC, Nagpur was installed as Hon. Secretary.
Dr Sunita Lawange is Director of Ashwini Pain Management Clinic at Dhantoli .She is also Visiting Consultant at OCHRI, GB Hospital and Alexis hospital. She is associated with various NGOs and works effortlessly for various social organisatons. She has held very important posts at National level as National Governing Council member of Indian Society for Study Of Pain(ISSP} and GC member of Indian Academy of Pain Medicine. She was secretary ISSP, Nagpur branch for last 3 years.
Dr Umesh Ramtani, Assistant Professor in Anaesthesiology , IGGMC is dynamic Anaesthesiologist and Pain Physician. He has held various positions in ISA NCB, ISSP Nagpur and AMF, Nagpur. He has distinguished academic career and actively participates in various social and cultural activities.

Ceremony was preceded by symbolic tree plantation at the venue itself and watering of sapling by Dr. Rani Bang. This year , new team has planned tree plantation as a social contribution to the society. In the coming tenure , a number of tree plantation drives will be carried out as symbol of a step towards safe environment The theme for this year is SAFETY, QUALITY & ACCLIVITY. Along with it we will continue Basic Life Support activity as a part of public awareness programme, as an agenda taken forward from the outgoing team. “YOU ARE IN SAFE HANDS” is the slogan for the chart which will depict various forms of anaesthesia and the role of an anaesthesiologist in various diversified fields of medicine. These charts which are made in English , Hindi and Marathi were released by Dr. Hitendra Mahajan.” E-SENSE” an e news letter of ISA , Nagpur containing quality articles like Labour analgesia , organ retrieval and interventional pain medicine was released during the ceremony by Dr. Anjali Bhure , GC member ISA National.
Dr. Shital Dalal , welcomed the gathering. Dr. Gauri Arora , outgoing secretary presented the secretary’s report . Dr. Sunita Lawange , in her acceptance speech, appealed that each ISA member should plant and nourish atleast five trees . The Book titled “ Holistic approach to low back pain” authored by new president Dr. Sunita Lawange was released in the ceremony by dignitaries on the dais. Dr. Hitendra Mahajan, the Guest of Honour for the ceremony , appreciated the efforts of ISA NCB and enlightened the audience about importance of Compression only life support COLS and informed about COLS program under the aegis of Jeevan sanjivani project “You can save one life” of ISA Maharashtra chapter which is the dream project of dr. Mahajan. He showed the concern about excess garbage and plastic waste harming the environment and advised that we should go green.
Padmashree Dr. Rani Bang , who was the Chief Guest for the day , showered heavenly bliss on august gathering and blessed the new team . With her words of wisdom , She mesmerised one and all and expressed her concern about neglect of rural india . She appealed to the anaesthesia society and medical fraternity to globalise the health services so that rural population could be benefitted . She also stressed the shortage of anaesthetists at rural places . She was amazed by the new ideas of new ISA team of tree plantation and public awareness program.
Many eminent personalities like honourable Vilas Muttemwarji and stalwarts of ISA NCB graced the event and came to greet new president . IMA Nagpur president and IMA Nagpur Secretary and office bearers of many associations came all the way to greet the new team. The installation ceremony was followed by “ Dr N.T. Balankhe Memorial Oration” which was delivered by the Outgoing President Dr .Sheetal Dalal.The topic was “ Newer airway gadgets : Promising approach to difficult airway management” The eminent anaesthesiologists Dr. C.S. Cham and Dr. Saurab Barde were chairpersons of the oration . Dr. Pankaj Machwe and Dr. Amrusha Chouksey were Masters of Ceremony. Dr. Umesh Ramtani , Hon Secretary proposed vote of thanks.
