WALKATHON 2018 of ISA-NCB
On 26th August 2018, the Raksha bandhan day, ISA- NCB, keeping on the agenda of social responsibility and public awareness, organised the most novel , first edition of “WALKATHON 2018” for ISA members, friends and families in which 200 members of ISA NCB and various other medical faculties participated enthusiastically with their spouses, kids and non medico friends. In this fitness event, Walk of 3 KM distance was covered by participants with placards displaying messages raising social and public awareness like SAVE EARTH, SAVE TREES , SAVE WATER, SAVE FOOD and SAY NO TO PLASTIC etc . Jeevan sanjivani COLS (IRC) placards were also carried by walkers displaying COLS signs. So Fitness was combined with social and public awareness drive. Jeevan Sanjivani stickers were attached to Tshirts of Walkers and caps with ISA logo were distributed to all . The entire event was full of fun and frolic. All the walkers enjoyed the fervour and enthusiastically completed the walk. The flag was waved up by Dr. Varbhe , President, Academy of Medical Sciences, Nagpur. The walkers were motivated by Orange city runners group volunteers on entire route.
Chief Guest of this mega event was Dr. Amit Samarth , PRIDE OF NAGPUR, 1st Asian to complete trans Siberian cycling for 9000 kms and 2nd only all over the world to complete trans Siberian cycling and RAAM both.
Walkers including kids covered the distance of 3 km with full energy and enthusiasm which started at 6. 30 AM. First 3 finishers above age of 50 yrs and 3 finishers below 50 yrs were given prizes at the hands of Chief guest .
Dr. Sunita Lawange , President , ISA-NCB thanked chief guest for giving us quality time and also to all participants . Special thanks was given to Dr. Ketaki Marodkar who was coordinator of this event and took enormous efforts for all arrangements. Chief guest Dr. Samarth encouraged all to inculcate sports in life and promoted fitness as 1st priority.
Dr. Umesh Ramtani, Hon. Secretary , ISA-NCB proposed vote of thanks . A Gratitude was expressed to all senior ISA members , GC members, Teachers and professors and all families , friends and kids who participated in Walkathon. A special thanks was given to Dr. Tirpude Sir for all his efforts and active conductance of street play.
