Celebrating Safety & Science: ISA Nagpur Marks World Anaesthesia Day 2025

On October 16, 2025, ISA Nagpur City Branch celebrated World Anaesthesia Day with a focus on the 2025-26 mission: "Mother and Child Care." The event was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Madhavi Khode Chaware, IAS, who lauded the fraternity's role in modern medicine. The day also featured the spirited Prof. D. S. Motghare Memorial Intercollegiate Skit Competition and an insightful Essay Competition.

The Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists, Nagpur City Branch (ISA-NCB), celebrated World Anaesthesia Day on October 16, 2025, with great enthusiasm. The event was dedicated to highlighting the evolution of the field and the critical importance of safe anaesthesia practices.

Leadership & Mission 2025-26 The program commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Sachin Makade, President of ISA-NCB. He spoke eloquently about the history of anaesthesia and emphasized the vital role anaesthesiologists play in patient care, specifically highlighting the branch’s mission for the year 2025-26: “Mother and Child Care.”

Guest of Honour & Vision We were honored to have Dr. Madhavi Khode Chaware, IAS, Additional Divisional Commissioner and Vice-Chancellor of Nagpur University, as our Chief Guest. She inaugurated the event and expressed deep appreciation for the contribution of anaesthesiologists across OTs, ICUs, Trauma Centres, Organ Donation, and Pain Clinics. Notably, she suggested launching a massive CPR awareness program for Nagpur University students, a vision ISA-NCB is keen to pursue.

The occasion was also graced by dignitaries Dr. Shital Dalal (Hon. Secretary, SAMS) and GC Members of SAMS, Dr. Kiran Vyavahare and Dr. Rashmi Shingade.

Competitions & Academic Spirit As part of the celebrations, two major competitions fostered academic spirit and creativity:

  1. Prof. D. S. Motghare Memorial Intercollegiate Skit Competition: Postgraduate students showcased their talent.

  2. Essay Competition: Theme – “Safe Anaesthesia – Right of every Mother and Child.”
    • 🥇 1st Prize: Dr. Shweta Bulle
    • 🥈 2nd Prize: Dr. Priya Sadavarte

Felicitations & Teamwork The event saw the felicitation of ISA-NCB members and their wards for their achievements. The program was expertly coordinated by Dr. Kirti Gujarkar, with Dr. Shweta Bulle and Dr. Roshani Manwani serving as Masters of Ceremony. The vote of thanks was proposed by Hon. Secretary Dr. Vrishali Panchalwar.
