World Anaesthesia Day Celebration by ISA–NCB

ISA Nagpur City Branch celebrated World Anaesthesia Day with awareness programs, competitions, and recognition of members, highlighting the importance of safe anaesthesia and emergency care.

The Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists – Nagpur City Branch (ISA–NCB) celebrated World Anaesthesia Day on 16 October 2025 with great enthusiasm through a series of awareness and academic activities highlighting the importance of safe anaesthesia practices in modern healthcare.

The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Sachin Makade, President ISA–NCB, who spoke about the evolution of anaesthesia and the vital role anaesthesiologists play in patient care, particularly in maternal and child healthcare, which is the mission of ISA–NCB for the year 2025–26.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Madhavi Khode Chaware, IAS, Additional Divisional Commissioner and Vice Chancellor of Nagpur University, inaugurated the event. She appreciated the immense contribution of anaesthesiologists in operating theatres, intensive care units, trauma care centres, organ donation programmes, and pain clinics. She also suggested organizing large-scale CPR awareness programs for Nagpur University students to enhance emergency preparedness in the community.

The programme was also graced by Dr. Shital Dalal (Hon. Secretary, SAMS), Dr. Kiran Vyavahare, and Dr. Rashmi Shingade, GC Members of SAMS.

As part of the World Anaesthesia Day celebrations, several academic and cultural activities were organized:

  • Prof. D. S. Motghare Memorial Intercollegiate Skit Competition was held for postgraduate students from anaesthesiology departments of various medical colleges.
    • Team IGGMC won the First Prize
    • Team DMMC secured the Second Prize
  • An Essay Competition was conducted on the theme “Safe Anaesthesia – Right of Every Mother and Child.”
    • Dr. Shweta Bulle won the First Prize
    • Dr. Priya Sadavarte received the Second Prize

During the event, ISA–NCB members and their wards were felicitated by the Chief Guest in recognition of their achievements and contributions.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Kirti Gujarkar, with Dr. Shweta Bulle and Dr. Roshani Manwani serving as Masters of Ceremony. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Vrishali Panchalwar, Hon. Secretary ISA–NCB, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and members for making the celebration successful.
