The Department of Anaesthesia, IGGMC Nagpur, in collaboration with the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists – Nagpur City Branch (ISA-NCB), organized a First Aid and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) training activity for students at the Institute of Fire and Safety Engineering, Pardi, Katol Road, Nagpur.
The program was conducted on 12 October 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with the objective of equipping students with essential emergency response and life-saving skills.
The session began with a First Aid lecture delivered by Dr. Leena Ingale Gedam, Associate Professor and Hon. Treasurer of ISA-NCB (2025–26). Her lecture focused on basic first aid principles, recognizing medical emergencies, and providing immediate assistance before professional medical help arrives.
Following the lecture, Dr. Nikhil Vengrulekar and Dr. Kapil Chavhan conducted demonstrations and hands-on BCLS training using mannequins. The practical session enabled students to learn and practice cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques and emergency response procedures in a realistic training environment.
The workshop was attended by approximately 52 students along with a few staff members. Participants actively took part in scenario-based practice sessions, performing CPR techniques and emergency drills with great enthusiasm.
The activity successfully enhanced awareness, practical knowledge, and confidence among students, preparing them to respond effectively during emergency situations in their professional and daily lives.
