BCLS Training on Gurupoornima at District Hospital, Nagpur

On Gurupoornima, the Department of Anaesthesiology, IGGMC Nagpur in association with ISA–NCB conducted Basic Life Support training at District Hospital, Nagpur, empowering over 90 medical and paramedical staff with essential resuscitation skills.

On the auspicious occasion of Gurupoornima (Thursday, 10/07/2025), the Department of Anaesthesiology, Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMC), in association with Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists – Nagpur City Branch (ISA–NCB), conducted a Basic Life Support (BLS) Lecture and Hands-on Training Program at District Hospital Nagpur.

The program symbolized the true spirit of Gurupoornima—sharing knowledge that saves lives.

Academic Session

The lecture on BCLS in In-Hospital and Out-of-Hospital Settings was delivered by:

The session focused on:

  • Early recognition and assessment of cardiac arrest
  • Importance of immediate chest compressions
  • Effective team-based resuscitation
  • Differences in in-hospital and out-of-hospital BLS protocols

Demonstration and Hands-On Training

The demonstration and practical training were conducted by:

  • Dr. Prashant Bonde – ISA–NCB Member
  • Dr. Suyog – ISA–NCB Member

The training included:

  • Systematic assessment of cardiac arrest
  • Correct chest compression technique
  • Use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Basics of post–cardiac arrest care

More than 90 medical and paramedical staff members from District Hospital actively participated in the hands-on chest compression practice using mannequins.

The lecture was attended enthusiastically by the staff. Participants actively engaged in the session, and all queries were addressed satisfactorily by the faculty members.
