Introduction to IKCARE Webinar Series
The Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists – Nagpur City Branch (ISA–NCB) continues to strengthen academic excellence through its dedicated webinar initiative, IKCARE – Innovations, Knowledge, Continued Academics, Research, and Education.
As part of this ongoing academic commitment, the 6th session of the IKCARE Webinar Series was conducted on Friday, 20th June 2025, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, via the Zoom platform. The session focused on a highly relevant and contemporary topic: “Medico-Legal Education” — an area of increasing importance in modern medical practice.
Focus Theme: Medico-Legal Education
In today’s evolving healthcare environment, clinicians must not only deliver evidence-based treatment but also ensure legal compliance, ethical practice, and meticulous documentation. Recognizing this need, ISA–NCB curated a session addressing the practical dimensions of medico-legal safeguards in clinical settings.
The webinar was structured around two core topics, delivered by eminent experts with extensive academic and medico-legal experience.
Session 1: Consent and Documentation – Medicolegal Safeguards in Clinical Practice
Speaker: Dr. Sachin Chandolkar
The first lecture, titled “Consent and Documentation: Medicolegal Safeguard in Clinical Practice”, was delivered by Dr. Sachin Chandolkar, Consultant Anesthesiologist, Nanded; GC Member SAMS; and Past Secretary ISA Nanded.
Dr. Chandolkar provided a comprehensive overview of:
- The legal validity of informed consent
- Essential components of proper documentation
- Common pitfalls in consent processes
- Importance of transparency in patient communication
- Risk mitigation strategies in anesthesiology practice
He emphasized that accurate and structured documentation not only protects practitioners legally but also strengthens patient trust and professional accountability. Real-world case discussions added practical depth to the session.
