Mission M2 – Mental Well-Being for Medicos: A Good Clinical Practice Initiative
The Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists – Nagpur City Branch, in association with the Department of Anaesthesiology, NKPSIMS, organised a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme under the aegis of:
“Mission M2 – Mental Well-Being for Medicos”
The programme was conducted as a part of Good Clinical Practice initiatives on Thursday, 14th August 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at:
NKP Salve Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre and Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, Nagpur.
This academic initiative aimed to address the growing concerns of stress, burnout, and mental health challenges among medical professionals and students.

Esteemed Speakers and Enlightening Sessions
The CME featured two distinguished speakers who delivered impactful and thought-provoking lectures.
Dr Nirmal Patle
Senior Consultant, Minimal Access Surgeon
Director, Aureus Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur
Topic: “Prioritising Health Amidst Demands of Life”
Dr Patle highlighted the importance of self-care, time management, and conscious health prioritisation despite the demanding schedules of medical professionals. His talk focused on maintaining work-life balance and preventing physical and emotional exhaustion.
Dr Sushil Gawande
Professor & Head, Department of Psychiatry, NKPSIMS
Topic: “Mental Wellness for Medicos: Challenges to Conquer”
Dr Gawande addressed critical issues such as:
- Burnout syndrome
- Anxiety and depression among medicos
- Coping mechanisms for stress
- Early identification of psychological distress
- Breaking stigma surrounding mental health
Both lectures were described as mesmerising, inspiring, informative, and deeply reflective, leaving a lasting impression on attendees.
Active Participation and Engagement
The CME witnessed participation from approximately 100 faculty members and postgraduate students across clinical and para-clinical departments.
The programme demonstrated strong interdisciplinary engagement and highlighted the collective responsibility of institutions in supporting mental well-being.

The Road Ahead: Sustained Commitment Under Mission M2
Recognising the growing prevalence of:
- Professional burnout
- Psychological disorders
- Emotional exhaustion
- Increasing reports of suicidal tendencies among medicos
ISA–NCB has resolved to expand Mission M2 initiatives across medical colleges in Nagpur.
Future plans include:
- Similar workshops for Undergraduate (UG) students
- Dedicated sessions for Postgraduate (PG) residents
- Structured mental health awareness campaigns
- Regular academic interventions focused on emotional resilience
