International Youth Day Initiative by ISA–NCB
On the occasion of International Youth Day, 12th August 2025, the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists – Nagpur City Branch (ISA–NCB) conducted a COLS (Comprehensive/Basic Life Support) Training Programme for paramedical technology undergraduate students.
The academic activity was organised at the Seminar Room, Department of Anaesthesiology, IGGMC Nagpur, fostering a focused and interactive learning environment.
Academic Leadership and Faculty Contribution
The lecture-cum-demonstration session was delivered by:
Dr Leena Ingale
Associate Professor, IGGMC Nagpur
COLS Skills Coordinator, ISA–NCB
Dr Ingale provided a structured and clinically relevant overview of life support principles, highlighting:
- Early recognition of cardiac emergencies
- Importance of timely intervention
- Basics of airway management
- Team-based response during resuscitation
- Role of paramedical professionals in emergency care
Her session emphasized that well-trained paramedical staff form the backbone of effective emergency response systems within hospitals.
Hands-On Simulation Training
Practical training was conducted for 30 BPMT (Bachelor of Paramedical Technology) students, ensuring active skill development.
The hands-on mannequin session was led by:
Dr Gautam
Postgraduate Student, Department of Anaesthesiology
IGGMC Nagpur
Students were trained in:
- Correct chest compression techniques
- Maintaining adequate compression depth and rate
- Airway positioning and ventilation basics
- Coordinated team approach during resuscitation
The interactive simulation-based format enhanced confidence, muscle memory, and real-time response skills among participants.
