ISA–NCB Teachers’ Day Reel Making Competition Showcases Academic Creativity Across Medical Colleges

On Teachers’ Day 2025, ISA–NCB organised an innovative Reel Making Competition engaging seven medical colleges, promoting academic creativity in anaesthesiology through short, informative digital presentations on key drugs and airway devices.

Event Overview

On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, 5th September 2025, the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists – Nagpur City Branch (ISA–NCB) organised a unique and engaging Reel Making Competition aimed at encouraging academic innovation among postgraduate students and young anaesthesiologists.

The competition was designed to blend medical education with modern digital communication tools, allowing participants to present core anaesthesia concepts through short, informative, and creative academic reels.

Participating Medical Colleges

Seven leading medical institutions enthusiastically participated in the competition:

  • Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences Sewagram (MGIMS)
  • NKP Salve Institute of Medical Sciences Nagpur (NKPSIMS)
  • Government Medical College Nagpur (GMC Nagpur)
  • Indira Gandhi Government Medical College Nagpur (IGGMC)
  • Government Medical College Gondia (GMC Gondia)
  • All India Institute of Medical Sciences Nagpur (AIIMS Nagpur)
  • Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Sawangi (JNMC Sawangi)

The wide participation reflected strong academic enthusiasm and inter-institutional collaboration within the anaesthesia fraternity.

Competition Topics

Teams selected one topic from a curated list of clinically relevant anaesthesia drugs and equipment, including:

  • Propofol
  • Etomidate
  • Sugammadex
  • Dexmedetomidine
  • Sevoflurane
  • Levobupivacaine
  • Video Laryngoscope
  • I-gel Supraglottic Airway Device
  • BIS Monitor
  • Combined Spinal Epidural Set

The reels were evaluated based on scientific accuracy, clarity of concept, creativity, and presentation style.

Concept & Leadership

The idea for this innovative academic initiative was floated by Dr Anjali Bhure, Past Vice President ISA National, Past President ISA–NCB, and Professor & Head, Department of Anaesthesia, NKPSIMS.

The competition was conceptualised and executed under the leadership of:

  • Dr Umesh Ramtani, President ISA–NCB
  • Dr Anjali Borkar, Honorary Secretary ISA–NCB

Their vision was to integrate academic excellence with modern communication platforms, making learning concise, engaging, and widely accessible.
