COLS and First Aid Training at Bhavan’s B. P. Vidya Mandir, Koradi

ISA Nagpur City Branch, with SEL & SC DMMC, conducted COLS and First Aid training at Bhavan’s B. P. Vidya Mandir, Koradi, training 1000 students and teachers under “Every Citizen A Life Saver” mission.

The Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists – Nagpur City Branch in association with SEL & SC DMMC organized a COLS (Compression-Only Life Support) and First Aid Training Program for students of 6th to 10th grade and teachers of Bhavans B. P. Vidya Mandir, Koradi, on 28th August 2025.

Academic Session

The lecture-cum-demonstration on COLS was delivered by:

  • Dr Umesh Ramtani, President, ISA–NCB

He explained the importance of early recognition of cardiac arrest and demonstrated correct chest compression techniques.

Hands-on Training

Hands-on training on mannequins was conducted in batches by:

  • Dr Roshani Manwani, Associate Professor, DMMC & Executive Committee Member, ISA–NCB
  • Dr Adeeba Siddique, Instructor, SEL & SC, DMMC

The First Aid training and presentation were also delivered by Dr Adeeba Siddique, covering essential emergency response measures.

Coordination

The training program was coordinated by:

  • Dr Anjali Modak Borkar, Hon. Secretary, ISA–NCB

Participation

Approximately 1000 students and teachers actively participated in the session. The participants raised numerous queries and doubts, which were effectively addressed by Dr Umesh Ramtani.

Awareness Mission

Under the mission “Every Citizen A Life Saver,” Dr Ramtani appealed to all attendees to:

  • Develop sensitivity towards victims of cardiac arrest
  • Overcome fears and inhibitions
  • Provide immediate Compression-Only Life Support whenever required

Educational Contribution

  • The COLS chart was donated to the school authorities for display within the premises to promote continued awareness and learning.

Significance of the Initiative

  • Empowered school students and teachers with life-saving skills
  • Promoted community-level emergency preparedness
  • Strengthened collaboration between ISA–NCB and educational institutions
  • Encouraged responsible and confident citizen response during emergencies

The program marked a significant outreach initiative, spreading life-saving awareness among young students and educators on a large scale.
