On the occasion of International Father’s Day (15th June 2025), Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists – Nagpur City Branch (ISA–NCB) organized a Compression Only Life Support (COLS) Training Program at Sir Gangadhar Chitnavis Trust.
The Trust is a respected charitable organization comprising fatherly figures actively engaged in multiple social welfare initiatives. It works extensively for underprivileged communities and promotes primary education for economically disadvantaged children by supporting several schools across the Nagpur district.
Conducting this life-saving initiative on Father’s Day symbolically reinforced the spirit of protection, care, and responsibility toward society.
Lecture and Demonstration
The lecture-cum-demonstration on COLS and First Aid was delivered by:
Dr. Umesh Ramtani
President, ISA–Nagpur City Branch
The session covered:
- Recognition of sudden cardiac arrest
- Importance of immediate chest compressions
- Basic first aid response in emergencies
- Role of trained bystanders in improving survival outcomes
Dr. Ramtani ensured that the session remained interactive and practical, enabling participants to clearly understand the steps of compression-only CPR.
Hands-On Training
Approximately 30 participants, including trustees, were provided hands-on training using mannequins.
The practical component allowed participants to:
- Practice correct hand placement
- Understand compression depth and rhythm
- Build confidence in responding during emergencies
All queries raised by delegates were thoroughly addressed by Dr. Umesh Ramtani, ensuring clarity and confidence among attendees.
“SAFE HANDS – Know Your Anaesthesiologists” Initiative
As part of ISA NCB’s public awareness mission:
“SAFE HANDS – Know Your Anaesthesiologists”
An Anaesthesia Informative Handbook was distributed among participants.
The handbook included:
- Types of anaesthesia
- Common myths and facts
- Safety aspects of modern anaesthesia
- Information about ISA–NCB activities
This initiative aimed to enhance awareness about the vital role of anaesthesiologists and strengthen public understanding of anaesthesia practices.
