Public Awareness and Social Outreach Initiative
The Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists (ISA), Nagpur City Branch (NCB) organized an important public awareness and emergency training activity on February 12, 2026, at Remedia Hospital, Nagpur.
The program focused on providing Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Compression Only Life Support (COLS) training to both healthcare professionals and members of the public. This initiative reflects ISA Nagpur’s commitment to strengthening community preparedness and emergency response awareness.
BCLS Training for Healthcare Professionals
A comprehensive Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) training session was conducted for healthcare staff working at Remedia Hospital.
Participants Included
- Resident doctors
- Nursing staff
- Medical technicians
Approximately 60 healthcare professionals attended the session and actively participated in the training. The workshop provided practical knowledge on recognizing cardiac emergencies and performing life-saving resuscitation techniques.
COLS Training for the Public
At the same time, a Compression Only Life Support (COLS) training session was organized for members of the public.
Participants Included
- Patient relatives
- Hospital attendants
- General community members
Around 35 laypeople participated in the activity and learned essential emergency response techniques that can help save lives during sudden cardiac arrest before medical assistance arrives.
Specialized Life-Saving Demonstrations
In addition to BCLS and COLS training, the ISA team conducted demonstrations of other important emergency management techniques.
Demonstrations Included
- Heimlich Maneuver for choking emergencies
- Awareness and management of Vasovagal attacks
These demonstrations helped participants understand how to respond effectively to different types of medical emergencies.

The activity was conducted under the leadership of:

Their guidance ensured the successful execution of the program and encouraged active participation from both healthcare professionals and the public.
