ISA NCB celebrates ‘World Anesthesia Day’

Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists-Nagpur City Branch organizes various socio-cultural programmes to celebrate ‘World Anaesthesia Day’.

As a part of World Anaesthesia Day celebration, ISA NCB organised a press conference which was held at Tilak Patrakaar bhavan on 14th October 2017 wherein the importance of BLS was explained by Dr Sheetal Dalal. She also explained, how ISA NCB is educating the general public about ‘Basic life Support’ (BLS) by demonstration and hands-on training in schools and other public places. Till date about 4000 people have been trained. She also informed them about ‘Ether day’. Dr. Gauri Arora informed them about the World Anaesthesia Day celebration programme to be held on 16th Oct 17. National governing council member Dr. Anjali Bhure explained them, how BLS has saved many lives in crisis. She also informed them about AED (automated external defibrillator), the instrument used for starting the rhythm of heart during resuscitation. BLS demonstration and hands-on training was given by Dr Umesh Ramtani. Other office-bearers present were Dr. Sunita Lawange, Dr. Kiran Vyawhare, Dr. Soma Cham, Dr. Deepak Madankar and Dr. Vrushali Ankalwar.

On 16th October 2017, ISA NCB members celebrates ‘Ether day’ at different hospitals along with the staff members by cutting cake. The importance of ‘World Anesthesia day’ celebration was explained to the paramedical and other staff who attended it.

Dr. Neeta deshpande, Dr. smita Harkare and staff celebrated the day at Orange city hospital.

Dr. Saurabh Barde celebrated this day with the staff of Raathi hospital, Dhantoli. He also Conducted BLS (jeevan-sanjivani) activity at the premises for the hospital staff.

On 16th October 2017, a cultural programme ‘Jhankaar’ was organized in the evening. Dr. Sheetal Dalal, President of ISA NCB welcomed all. The chief-guest of the programme was Dr. Amit Samarth, (RAAM team),who has completed successfully the longest cycle race across America, in June 2017 in 12 days covering about 4800 Kms, in extremes of weather. A cake cutting ceremony was also held at the hands of the chief guest.

To acknowledge appreciate & encourage, the members & their children were felicitated for their academic and non-academic achievements during the year. Dr. Alok Ghosh, Ex. professor and Head of Dept. of Anesthesiology at IGGMC, Nagpur for being conferred the title ‘DATTA MEGHE PROFESOR EMERITUS’ in the domain of ‘Modernization of anesthesiology’ was felicitated. Others to be felicitated were Dr. N. G. Tirpude, Dr. Vaishali Shelgaonkar, Dr. Vikram Singham, Dr. Pooja Mamtani, for their academic excellence. Dr. Raju Roy, Dr. Arti Kelkar, Dr. Ketki Marodkar were felicitated for excelling in sports amongst the members. Others felicitated for their achievements were Dr. Samrat Waghaye, Nakul Shelgaonkar, Ninad Shelgaonkar, Rohit Shembekar, Adwait Pakhmode, Ishita Bakde and Charu Panchalwar.

The e-newsletter of ISA NCB ‘e-sense’ was released at the hands of the chief guest. Dr. Saurabh Barde, Editor of the newsletter worked very hard to bring out the newsletter in a very short time. The contributors to the ‘e- sense’ were Dr. Sheetal Dalal, Dr. Gauri Arora, Dr. Saurabh Barde, Dr. Sachin Jambhorkar and Dr. Pankaj Machwe.

An award for public awareness for the members was anounced by Dr. Anjali Bhure, national governing council member, in the name of her mother Smt. Sindhu Ingle.

This was followed by cultural event ‘Jhankaar’ was presented, where different dances showcasing the rich Indian cultural & heritage and songs were performed.

The member who performed dance were Dr. Kiran Vyawahare, Dr. Archana Deshpande, Dr. Arti Kelkar, Dr. Daksha Mandhaniya, Dr. Sunita Lawange, Dr. Prajakta Bijwe, Dr. Jyoti Panhekar, Dr. Tapsya Dhawane, Dr. Swapna Bhure, Dr. Umesh Ramtani, Dr. S. K. Deshpande, Dr. Hemant Rahatekar, Dr. Deepak Madankar, Dr. Saurabh Barde, Dr. C. S. Cham. The dances were choreographed by Mrs. Kamini Singh. Dr. Neha Nakade performed a solo dance. Charu Panchalwar, daughter of Dr. Vrushali presented the opening dance on Shri Ganesh Vandana. Orchestra was presented on the theme of ‘Bappi Lahiri songs’ by the members, who included very senior members. The singers who participated were Dr. Ravi Mundhada, Dr. Rashmi Shingade, Dr. Smita Harkare, Dr. Sandeep Meshram, Dr. Sachin Makde, Dr. Ratna Waghaye, Dr. Mrinalini Ballal, Dr. Anita Pande, Dr. Manisha Pakhmode, Dr. Suhas Ambade, Dr. Bhau Rajurkar, Dr. Praveen Johare, Dr. Ketki Ramteke, Dr. Satkar Pawar, Dr. Archana Deshpande, Dr. Gauri Arora, Dr. C.S. Cham. Dr. Soma Cham was the Convener and Dr. Rashmi Shingade and Dr. Kiran Vyawahare were the project co-ordinators. The inaugural ceremony was anchored by Dr. Vrushali Ankalwar. The cultural event was compered by Dr. Hemangi Abhyankar and Dr. Pankaj Machwe. This event was attended by a large number of ISA NCB members and their families. Dr. Gauri Arora Proposed formal vote of thanks.

The programme ended with the National Anthem.
