Honoring Nurses with Life-Saving Skills: ISA Nagpur Conducts BCLS Mega-Training

On International Nurses Day, Monday, May 12, 2025, ISA Nagpur City Branch celebrated the dedication of nursing staff by providing the critical gift of knowledge. A comprehensive Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) training program was simultaneously conducted across three major institutions—Seven Star, Viveka, and Shalinitai Meghe Hospitals—equipping approximately 80 frontline nurses with enhanced emergency skills.

The International Nurses Day theme of 2025 took on a practical and life-affirming dimension in Nagpur. On Monday, May 12, 2025, the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists, Nagpur City Branch (ISA-NCB), honored the dedication of nursing staff by organizing a massive Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) training program.

The goal was clear: to enhance the emergency response skills of the healthcare workers who stand on the front lines of patient care every day. The training was conducted concurrently at three major hospitals:

  1. Seven Star Hospital
  2. Viveka Hospital
  3. Shalinitai Meghe Hospital

A Team of Expert Faculty

ISA-NCB mobilized an impressive team of expert faculty to ensure high-quality, personalized training at each location:

  • Seven Star Hospital: The session was led by Dr. Anant Atkar, Executive Committee member.
  • Viveka Hospital: Training was conducted by Dr. Arihant Jain, Executive Committee member.
  • Shalinitai Meghe Hospital: The large training session was managed by a team including Dr. Pratibha Deshmukh (Past President ISA-NCB), Dr. Saurabh Barde (Past President ISA-NCB & Vice President SAMS), Dr. Roshani Manwani (Asso. Prof.), and Dr. Karuna Gaikwad (ISA Member).

Impact and Outcome

The program achieved remarkable reach. An estimated 25 to 35 nursing staff from each hospital enthusiastically participated, resulting in a total of approximately 80 nursing staff being trained on this very special day.

The BCLS sessions involved detailed theoretical explanations followed by crucial hands-on training using manikins, ensuring that the nurses gained both confidence and proficiency in performing CPR and handling airway emergencies.

To reinforce the training and provide a lasting resource, a standardized BCLS chart was also handed over to all participating hospitals.

ISA-NCB is proud to support the nursing community—the backbone of our healthcare system—by helping them expand their skills and reinforce the mission of providing the highest standards of patient safety.
