A Gift of Life: ISA Nagpur Conducts Special Mother’s Day COLS Training
Celebrating the spirit of International Women's Day, the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists, Nagpur City Branch (ISA-NCB) conducted a special Comprehensive Onsite Life Support (COLS) training program for employees of Mahindra & Mahindra on 8th March 2025. The morning session at 9 AM saw enthusiastic participation from 100 employees, equipping them with essential emergency response skills.
Mother’s Day is a time to celebrate nurturing and protection, and the ISA Nagpur City Branch (ISA-NCB) honored this spirit by focusing on family safety.
On Sunday, May 11, 2025, ISA-NCB organized a dedicated Compression-Only Life Support (COLS) Training session for new mothers, expectant mothers, and their accompanying family members. The activity took place at Nandini Multi-speciality Hospital, Nagpur, targeting families visiting for their Antenatal Care (ANC) and Postnatal Care (PNC) checkups.
Empowering Families with Life Skills
The session was led by Dr. Umesh Ramtani, President, ISA-NCB. Dr. Ramtani delivered a clear and comprehensive lecture explaining the steps and importance of COLS, emphasizing that quick action by a bystander is the most crucial factor in improving survival rates from sudden cardiac arrest.
The lecture was followed by a practical demonstration using mannequins, ensuring participants understood the correct technique, rhythm, and depth of compressions. A critical component of the session was the hands-on training given to the visitors, allowing them to practice the life-saving steps under expert supervision.
Approximately 50 participants who visited the OPD benefited from this essential training. The engagement was excellent, with many participants posing interesting and relevant queries, all of which were thoughtfully answered by Dr. Ramtani.
ISA-NCB believes that extending this fundamental training to new and growing families helps create a strong, prepared support system at home, reinforcing our mission of “Safe Hands; Know Your Anaesthesiologist.”
