Sareethon Walkathon 2026: Public Awareness Drive on International Women’s Day

ISA–NCB organized a Sareethon walkathon on International Women’s Day, promoting awareness about anaesthesia, COLS, and Panchrakshak through placards, demonstrations, and community participation.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, 8 March 2026, the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists – Nagpur City Branch (ISA–NCB) organized a Sareethon Walkathon at the IMA Premises, Nagpur, as part of its public awareness and community outreach initiatives.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from approximately 50 women and 25 male members of ISA–NCB, who took part in the walkathon dressed in traditional attire, symbolizing unity, culture, and awareness.

The program commenced with a welcome address by President Dr. Sachin Makade, who greeted the esteemed guests Dr. Manish Katikar and Dr. Anjali Bhure, along with all participants. The walkathon was officially flagged off by Dr. Anjali Bhure, marking the beginning of a 2-kilometer awareness march.

Participants carried placards displaying impactful slogans, focusing on:

  • Awareness about anaesthesia and the role of anaesthesiologists
  • Importance of Compression-Only Life Support (COLS)
  • Promotion of the Panchrakshak concept for emergency response

The walkathon concluded at the IMA Premises, where further educational demonstrations were conducted:

  • COLS demonstration on mannequins, teaching correct chest compression techniques
  • Panchrakshak demonstration on volunteers, educating the public on immediate response during emergencies

The event also saw participation from members of other organizations, including IMA, NOGS, and nursing staff, making it a collaborative effort to promote public health awareness.

The activity concluded on a positive note with interactive engagement and fellowship, followed by refreshments for all participants.
