On 30 May 2026, World No Tobacco Day was observed at RST Institute, Nagpur, with a series of public awareness activities focused on promoting a tobacco-free lifestyle and preventing tobacco-related diseases.
The program featured an awareness rally, felicitation of cancer survivors, and educational sessions on tobacco de-addiction, encouraging participants to adopt healthier habits and support tobacco cessation efforts.
The Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists – Nagpur City Branch (ISA–NCB) actively participated in the event as part of its commitment to social responsibility and public health awareness.
During the program, Dr. Puja Kanthawar, Executive Member of ISA–NCB, delivered an informative session highlighting the adverse effects of tobacco chewing and smoking, particularly their impact on anaesthesia, surgical outcomes, and overall health. She also appealed to the audience to quit tobacco use and embrace a healthier lifestyle.
