The Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists – Nagpur City Branch (ISA–NCB) conducted a Basic Life Support (BLS) and Compression-Only Life Support (COLS) training activity on 28 October 2025 at Nelson Hospital, Dhantoli, Nagpur.
The aim of the programme was to train healthcare workers and support staff in essential life-saving skills, enabling them to respond effectively during cardiac emergencies and sudden cardiac arrest.
Approximately 35 paramedical staff members, including nurses and technicians, participated in the BLS training session, where they were taught the correct techniques for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency response.
Additionally, around 15 hospital attendants, security guards, and clerical staff received COLS training, focusing on the importance of immediate chest compressions during cardiac arrest before advanced medical help arrives.
The academic session included a PowerPoint presentation on BLS and COLS delivered by Dr. Pallavi Meshram, explaining the principles, steps, and significance of early resuscitation in saving lives.
The training was further strengthened by hands-on practice sessions, where participants learned and practiced chest compression techniques on mannequins under expert guidance.
Dr. Sachin Makade and Dr. Vrishali Panchalwar actively guided the participants during the practical demonstrations and hands-on training sessions.
The activity successfully enhanced the emergency preparedness of hospital staff, reinforcing ISA–NCB’s commitment to promoting life-saving skills and awareness within healthcare institutions and the community.
