World Anaesthesia Day Celebration and COLS Workshop at NKPSIMS, Nagpur

Department of Anaesthesiology at NKPSIMS Nagpur celebrated World Anaesthesia Day with a COLS workshop, training 124 participants in life-saving emergency response skills.

The Department of Anaesthesiology at NKP Salve Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre (NKPSIMS & RC) and Lata Mangeshkar Hospital (LMH), Nagpur celebrated World Anaesthesia Day on 16 October 2025 with great enthusiasm and active participation.

The program was organized under the able guidance of Dr. Anjali Bhure, Professor and Head of the Department of Anaesthesiology, with the aim of promoting awareness about the vital role of anaesthesiologists and the importance of life-saving emergency skills.

Compression Only Life Support (COLS) Workshop

A Compression Only Life Support (COLS) workshop was conducted as part of the celebration to spread awareness about immediate response during cardiac emergencies. The session focused on teaching participants the importance of early chest compressions and basic emergency response techniques that can help save lives.

The hands-on training program witnessed participation from a total of 124 individuals, including hospital staff and visitors.

To maximize outreach and accessibility, the COLS training sessions were conducted at three different locations within the hospital:

  • Hospital Registration Counter (Ground Floor)
  • Surgical OT Complex (3rd Floor)
  • PAC OPD (4th Floor)

Participants received practical demonstrations and guidance on performing compression-only CPR, enabling them to understand and practice the correct techniques.

The event successfully raised awareness about life-saving skills and the critical role of prompt action during cardiac emergencies, reinforcing the importance of community training in emergency preparedness.
