Professor D. S. Motghare Memorial Intercollegiate Quiz Competition Held for Anaesthesiology Postgraduates
As part of the World Anaesthesia Day celebrations, the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists, Nagpur City Branch (ISA NCB), organised the Professor D. S. Motghare Memorial Intercollegiate Quiz Competition for postgraduate students in Anaesthesiology on 16 October 2026.
The competition brought together postgraduate students from several medical institutions, providing an academic platform to demonstrate their knowledge, encourage healthy competition, and promote learning in anaesthesiology.
Participation from Medical Colleges
Postgraduate teams representing the following institutions participated in the competition:
- NKP Salve Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre (NKPIMS)
- Datta Meghe Medical College (DMMC)
- Government Medical College (GMC), Nagpur
- Indira Gandhi Government Medical College (IGGMC), Nagpur
- All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Nagpur
- Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Sawangi
The event encouraged academic interaction among postgraduate students and faculty members from different institutions, fostering knowledge-sharing and professional camaraderie.
Judges and Competition Results
The competition was judged by Dr Sunita Lawange, Past President, ISANCB and National Pain Society, and Dr Vivek Bhargava, Head of Department at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Nagpur.
After the competition, Government Medical College (GMC), Nagpur, secured first place, while AIIMS Nagpur was declared runner-up.
The competition highlighted the importance of academic preparation, clinical knowledge, teamwork, and continued learning among postgraduate trainees in anaesthesiology.
A Gathering of the ISA Community
The programme was attended by approximately 130 people, including ISA members, their children, postgraduate students, Heads of Departments (HODs), and faculty members.
The gathering provided an opportunity for members of the anaesthesiology community to come together, celebrate World Anaesthesia Day, and encourage the next generation of anaesthesiologists.

Through the Professor D. S. Motghare Memorial Intercollegiate Quiz Competition, ISA Nagpur City Branch reaffirmed its commitment to academic development and postgraduate education.
The event honoured the memory of Professor D. S. Motghare by promoting knowledge, intellectual engagement, and a spirit of academic excellence among future anaesthesiologists.
The initiative formed part of ISA NCB’s broader World Anaesthesia Day celebrations, which combined professional recognition, academic activities, and opportunities to strengthen fellowship within the anaesthesiology community.
