ISA Nagpur Conducts COLS and Pancharakshak Awareness Programme at Learning Roots Kindergarten

October 20, 2026

The Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists (ISA), Nagpur City Branch, conducted a Compression-Only Life Support (COLS) and Pancharakshak awareness and training programme at Learning Roots Kindergarten, located at 249A, Old MSEB Office, near Ginger Mall, Jaripatka, Nagpur, as part of the Ether Week celebrations.

The programme aimed to raise awareness about the importance of early recognition of cardiac arrest and timely intervention during medical emergencies.

Approximately 25 staff members, including teachers, attendants, and caretakers, participated in the session. The programme featured an educational lecture, hands-on mannequin training, and practical demonstrations to help participants understand essential life-saving techniques.

Participants were also introduced to Pancharakshak, which focuses on five life-saving skills. These skills were explained and demonstrated using a volunteer to provide a practical understanding of emergency response.

The programme was conducted by Dr Leena Ingale Gedam, Honorary Secretary, ISA Nagpur City Branch (2026–27), along with postgraduate trainees Dr Jasmine Kour and Dr Niketan Hatwar.

Through this initiative, ISA Nagpur City Branch continued its efforts to spread life-saving awareness beyond healthcare settings and equip members of the community with basic knowledge of responding to emergencies.

The activity highlighted the importance of practical training, timely action, and community participation in promoting awareness of life-saving skills.
