ISANCB Conducts COLS and Pancharakshak Awareness Programme at Midas Hospital, Nagpur

October 19, 2026

The Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists, Nagpur City Branch (ISANCB), conducted a Compression-Only Life Support (COLS) awareness and Pancharakshak demonstration programme at Midas Hospital, Parsodi, Nagpur, on 17 October 2026 as part of the Ether Week celebrations.

The programme aimed to raise awareness about cardiac emergencies, the importance of early recognition of cardiac arrest, and the need for prompt intervention. It was attended by approximately 80–100 participants, including patients, their relatives, and hospital staff members.

COLS Awareness and Hands-On Training

Dr Ayushma Padia, Executive Member, ISANCB (2026–27), delivered an informative lecture on COLS, highlighting the importance of immediate action during a cardiac emergency.

Hands-on demonstrations and practical training were conducted by Dr Anish Sharma, Dr Tejaswini Bagde, and Dr Sudha G. Patients and their relatives were also given the opportunity to practise chest compression techniques, helping them gain practical familiarity with essential life-saving skills.

Pancharakshak Demonstration and Active Participation

The programme also included a demonstration of Pancharakshak, which focuses on five life-saving skills. Hospital staff, patients, and relatives participated enthusiastically in the demonstrations and hands-on activities.

The interactive format encouraged participants to engage with the training, understand the importance of life-saving knowledge, and become more aware of how timely action can help during emergencies.

Promoting Life-Saving Awareness During Ether Week

Through this initiative, ISANCB continued its efforts to extend life-saving education beyond healthcare professionals and into the wider community. By involving patients, relatives, and hospital staff, the programme reinforced the importance of public awareness and practical preparedness for cardiac emergencies.

The activity at Midas Hospital reflected ISANCB’s commitment to promoting COLS and Pancharakshak awareness and encouraging more people to learn essential life-saving skills.
