ISANCB and IGGMC Conduct COLS and BCLS Demonstrations at Deekshabhoomi Medical Health Check-Up Camp

October 23, 2026

The Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists, Nagpur City Branch (ISANCB), in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi Government Medical College (IGGMC) team, conducted Compression-Only Life Support (COLS) and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) demonstrations at the Deekshabhoomi Medical Health Check-Up Camp on 20 October 2026.

The initiative aimed to promote awareness of life-saving techniques among medical students and encourage them to share this essential knowledge with the wider community.

Training for Medical Students from Five Colleges

Approximately 350 MBBS students from five medical colleges participated in the activity. The demonstrations introduced students to key life-support techniques and highlighted the importance of recognising cardiac emergencies and providing timely assistance.

The students also contributed to public awareness efforts by helping educate members of the community about essential life-saving skills. This peer-led approach helped extend the reach of the initiative beyond the medical student community.

Life-Saving Awareness for the General Public

As part of the programme, 200 booklets were distributed to members of the public to support awareness and learning about life-saving techniques.

The combination of practical demonstrations, student participation, and educational materials helped promote the importance of emergency preparedness and timely intervention during cardiac emergencies.

Strengthening Community Life-Saving Awareness

Through this collaborative initiative, ISANCB and the IGGMC team continued their efforts to promote COLS and BCLS awareness among future healthcare professionals and the general public.

The activity at the Deekshabhoomi Medical Health Check-Up Camp highlighted the important role medical students can play in spreading life-saving knowledge and encouraging greater community preparedness for emergencies.
