ISANCB Conducts BCLS Training for First-Year BDS Students at Government Dental College, Nagpur

October 28, 2026

The Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists, Nagpur City Branch (ISANCB), conducted a Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) training programme for first-year Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) undergraduate students at Government Dental College and Hospital, Nagpur, on 26 October 2026.

The programme aimed to familiarise future dental professionals with essential life-saving skills and the importance of prompt action during cardiac emergencies.

Programme Planning and Inauguration

The programme was planned by Dr Pallavi Meshram, Past Executive Member of ISANCB and Associate Professor. The event was graced by Dr Fadnaik, Dean, Government Dental College and Hospital, Nagpur, whose presence highlighted the importance of emergency response training in dental education.

BCLS Presentation and Hands-On Training

The educational presentation was delivered by Dr Shilpa Jaiswal, Executive Member, ISANCB 2026–27. The practical hands-on training was conducted by Dr Pallavi Meshram and Dr Divyesh, providing students with an opportunity to learn and practise essential life-support techniques.

The students participated enthusiastically in the hands-on activities and showed keen interest in learning the Pancharakshak life-saving skills. The interactive training helped familiarise participants with the importance of emergency preparedness and timely intervention.

Encouraging Life-Saving Skills Among Future Dental Professionals

Basic Cardiac Life Support training is valuable for healthcare students because cardiac emergencies can occur in a variety of clinical settings, including dental practices. Early recognition, prompt activation of emergency assistance, and appropriate life-support measures are important components of emergency response.

The programme encouraged first-year BDS students to develop an awareness of these essential skills early in their professional education.

Certificates Presented to Participants

Certificates were presented to all participating students in recognition of their involvement in the training programme.

Through this initiative, ISANCB reaffirmed its commitment to promoting life-saving education among healthcare students and strengthening awareness of BCLS and Pancharakshak skills.

The programme reflected the importance of collaboration between professional medical organisations and educational institutions in preparing future healthcare professionals to respond effectively to emergencies.
