Anaesthesia for Bariatric Surgery and Robotic Surgery

The ISA Nagpur City Branch successfully conducted the third webinar on 23rd July 2026, with the theme “Anaesthesia for Bariatric Surgery and Robotic Surgery.”
The first session, “Heavyweight Challenges, Smart Anaesthetic Solutions – Anaesthesia for Bariatric Surgery,” was delivered by Dr. Pravin Patel, who shared his expertise and valuable insights into the unique challenges and practical considerations in the anaesthetic management of bariatric patients.
This was followed by an equally fascinating session by Dr. Anita Shirley, titled “Little Patients, Giant Robots – An Anaesthesiologist’s Approach to Robotic Paediatric Thoracic Surgery,” which took the audience through the complexities and evolving role of anaesthesia in paediatric robotic thoracic surgery.
The sessions were chaired by Dr. Vaishali C. Shelgaonkar, Professor and Head, Department of Anaesthesiology, IGGMC, Nagpur, and Dr. Shital Dalal, Associate Professor, IGGMC, Nagpur, and Hon. Secretary, SAMS. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Sachin Makade, President, ISANCB, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Vrishali Panchalwar, Hon. Secretary, ISANCB. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Sheetal Awhad.
The webinar witnessed enthusiastic participation, with both presentations being highly informative and engaging, followed by an interactive Q&A that encouraged meaningful discussion and exchange of experiences.
