Empowering Young Minds: COLS Training on National Youth Day
In honor of National Youth Day, the ISA Nagpur City Branch organized a significant public awareness and training initiative at Vivekananda Vidyarthi Bhavan, Dhantoli, Nagpur, on January 12, 2025, at 10:00 AM. This event, dedicated to equipping the youth with life-saving skills, resonated deeply with the values and teachings of Swami Vivekananda, focusing on empowerment through knowledge and action.
A Day of Learning and Action
The event began with an insightful PowerPoint presentation delivered by Dr. Leena Gedam, ISA member, Associate Professor at IGGMC, and COLS coordinator. Dr. Gedam skillfully explained the basics of Cardio-Pulmonary Life Support (COLS), emphasizing its importance in emergency scenarios.
This was followed by a hands-on demonstration by ISA members Dr. Payal and Dr. Sayli, who expertly guided the attendees through practical techniques, ensuring they gained confidence in applying COLS procedures.
The program was seamlessly conducted by Dr. Rohini Deshpande, a senior anesthesiologist and ISA member, whose engaging approach kept the participants actively involved throughout the session.
Participation and Impact
The training was attended by around 40 students, who eagerly absorbed the knowledge and practical skills imparted. Distinguished guests, including Dr. Sureshchandra Batra, Dr. Shraddha Agrawal, and Swami Mahabalanand from Ramakrishna Math, graced the occasion with their presence, adding a touch of inspiration and encouragement to the event.
As a token of appreciation and a step toward further awareness, an informative COLS chart was donated to Vivekananda Vidyarthi Bhavan, symbolizing the ISA Nagpur City Branch’s commitment to spreading essential life-saving knowledge.
Fostering a Culture of Preparedness
This COLS activity not only empowered the youth with critical emergency skills but also fostered a sense of responsibility and readiness among the participants. It was a meaningful tribute to the ideals of Swami Vivekananda, emphasizing that youth are the driving force of societal change.
